real people
Everyone is busy. You know what I mean. Work. School. Basketball. Gymnastics. Homework help. Mowing. Coaching. Sleep. Repeat.
Most days don't afford us the time to prepare a three-course meal. Often the time crunch leads to eating something you bought frozen in a box from your local boy scout troop because you felt guilty about not giving the neighbor kid some money for his fundraiser.
real food
Real Food. You know what I mean right? Stuff that is fresh, not high fructosed and not packaged with enough preservatives to last until 2050. This means no cream of chicken soup, ranch dressing packets, bottles of Italian dressing, ... Also, I prefer to use food with ingredients I can pronounce and identify without a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry(i.e. disodium guanylate).
real slow
A crockpot(officially called a slow-cooker) affords a "set it and forget it" option for cooking. All of these recipes are designed to be made the night before, refrigerated, dropped in and started in the morning before you leave the house. Low and slow heat also brings into play cuts of meat that are cheaper and otherwise ignored by many due to their "toughness". Toughness just means more connective tissue and fat which can be rendered down in a crockpot cooking application.
